The AJC interviewed both Joker Phillips and Larry Warford. As usual, the media wants to talk to the head coach about his future and job security. I think Joker has done a great job of answering those questions. However, it’s important for fans to hear what Larry Warford had to say about his head coach. Below is an excerpt:
“He cares about the program and about us so much,” Warford said. “It shows in everything he does. He eats, sleeps and breathes Kentucky football. He cares about this program so much and it shows on the field with the intensity that he brings. It’s crazy how much he loves the program and we are better for it.”
Thanks for sharing those positive, meaningful words from Larry Warford, Aaron. Too, they speak volumes about the REAL Joker Phillips and what the Kentucky players think about him. Matt Smith also noted yesterday that the players “love” Joker — and that he himself wants Joker to be at Kentucky”forever.”
Anyway, some of us have been “preaching” just that — how much Joker cares about this program and his players. It’s good for fans to hear it from the players themselves, though, and, again, thanks so much for sharing. In my opinion, Joker’s becoming successful would be GREAT for Kentucky football. I firmly believe that — while some fans will continue to lust after some bigger name that would likely leave for greener pastures as soon as he met success here. Again, Warford’s words speak volumes, and I surely hope fans listen to how the program is, according to Warford, “the better” for how “crazy” Joker Phillips is about Kentucky football.
